Why heat pumps need specialists

A heat pump is an air conditioner that runs backwards in winter, and the components that make that possible — the reversing valve, defrost thermostat and control board — are the parts most often misdiagnosed. Our technicians test each one directly instead of throwing refrigerant at the problem.

Heat pump installation done right

Correct sizing (Manual J), proper line-set sizing, accurate charge weigh-in and a matched indoor coil determine whether your new heat pump hits its rated efficiency. We provide free installation estimates and explain available utility rebates and federal efficiency credits.

Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my heat pump blowing cool air in heating mode?
Heat pumps deliver air around 90–100°F, which feels cool against skin. If it is genuinely cold, suspect a stuck reversing valve, low refrigerant, or a system stuck in defrost.
Is ice on my heat pump normal in winter?
A light frost that clears during defrost cycles is normal. A solid block of ice covering the coil is not — shut it off and call for service.
How long do heat pumps last?
Typically 12–15 years, or longer with annual maintenance. Coastal salt air shortens that considerably.
Should I replace my AC with a heat pump?
In most climates, yes — a modern heat pump cools as well as an AC and heats more efficiently than electric resistance or an aging furnace, often with rebates available.
